A consultative workshop on capacity needs of the Land Commission Organised by RISD, Rwanda Land Commission and Ombudsman

The National Land Commission Office of Rwanda, the Ombudsman Office and Rwanda Initiative for Sustainable Development (RISD), organized a one day consultative workshop on roles and responsibilities of different institutions responsible for land expropriation and land related disputes, that was held on 15th December 2009, in Kigali..

The main purpose of the workshop was to examine different roles and responsibilities of the Land Commission and the Land Bureau institutions, and dialogue on long term strategies on how to bridge any existing gaps.

The workshop that was officially opened by the Chief Ombudsman brought together almost 100 participants drawn from different institutions, including, Land Commissions and Land Bureaus from all the 30 Districts, the National Land Commission Office, including the Chairperson, the National Land Center, the office of the Ombudsman, Civil society – mainly LandNet members, and Donors.
